6 ways to Increase Profits using Pinterest

So you’ve heard all the buzz about small businesses increasing profit using Pinterest, but HOW?!

Let me tell ya! A good pin gets users (aka your ideal audience) off of Pinterest and on to…wherever it is you’re linking to! This can be your website, your booking page, a sales page, your blog, an affiliate page, or even your social media platforms.

Here are some of my favorite ways to leverage the power of Pinterest to boost your business profits as an entrepreneur or small business.

  1. Drive Traffic to your Website. When optimized & created correctly, Pinterest Pins can be a huge driver of traffic to your website. This can increase profits if you have ads on your website & are using traffic to monetize. If you don’t have website ads, driving traffic is still a key business goal - it helps you rank on Google, builds trust & recognition with potential clients/customers, and gives you more opportunities to capture & nurture leads. The caveat here is that your Pinterest pins must give users a reason (really good reason!) to click through and land on your site. Including an enticing call to action on your Pin can really help with this!

  2. Affiliate Marketing. This is an increasingly popular way to monetize on Pinterest because pretty much anyone can be an affiliate marketer. You don’t have to have a popular blog or large audience to do this! You can link your pins to a blog post with various affiliate links throughout, or directly to a product using your specialized affiliate link. Just make sure you’re not using any clickbait or misleading marketing practices here. Pinners are smart and will see right though it!

  3. Growing your Email List. If all of your leads are on Instagram, and Instagram goes away tomorrow - will your business survive? It’s crucial to capture your audience’s emails into a email list that you own so you’re not relying strictly on a platform that you don’t. Grow your email list by linking your pins to your lead magnet; whether that’s a freebie, low investment masterclass, sales page or email capture pop up on your website. Once you have their email, you can start building relationships & trust and letting them know about your offerings - which will ultimately lead to new clients and customers.

  4. Grow your Instagram, YouTube or Podcast. If you’re already making money with other platforms like Instagram, YouTube, or a Podcast, Pinterest can be a great way to drive more traffic and followers to those platforms. With the introduction of story pins & the big push for short form video, there's no better time than now to start repurposing your video content onto Pinterest and driving traffic to your main sources of income. Plus, when your audience sees you on multiple platforms, it builds credibility & you gain global recognition.

  5. Selling Physical Products. People come to Pinterest ready to buy, and Pinterest is enhancing the shopping experience because of it. 97% of searches on Pinterest are non-branded which is a huge advantage for small businesses. Showcase your products on Pinterest and get discovered by a huge (4 billion+) audience! Be sure to enable Rich Pins so your data updates when you have price or product changes.

  6. Selling Digital Products + Courses. Just like with physical products, Pinterest users are searching with intent and ready to buy or try your digital offerings. Figure out what problem related to your offer Pinners are looking to have solved (keyword research really helps here!) and create Pins that encourage them to click through for the solution.
